Dr. Hanna Saefkow (Practise Owner)
Is a British Columbian since birth, having grown up in Pemberton, Prince George, Victoria, and Smithers. She is an Honours Biology Graduate from UVIC, and an Honours Graduate (1990) from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). She received awards in Nutrition and Pharmacology. After practicing in Northern British Columbia and Courtenay, she established Lighthouse Veterinary Hospital in 1995. Her plan, in starting her own facility was to keep an atmosphere where clients and patients don’t feel like they’re just a number, where compassion for both patients and clients remains uppermost.

Dr. Christine Kirby (Locum Veterinarian)
Dr. Christine Kirby graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2006. She spent the first part of her career doing mixed animal practice in the interior of British Columbia. Then focused solely on small animal medicine and surgery in 2012, owning a small animal practice in Whistler for years before moving to Vancouver Island in 2021. She enjoys general practice medicine and surgery and building relationships with her patients and their owners. She spends her free time with her husband and 2 daughters on their acreage riding horses or exploring the trails on Vancouver Island. Her pets also include a Labrador Retriever named Morrie and 2 barn cats Porsche and Prince and a bunny, Cinnamon.
